Huawei Watch GT 6 Release Date Set for September 19, Pre-Launch Discount Live

Huawei has officially confirmed the Watch GT 6 release date for September 19, nearly a year after the GT 5 debuted. Ahead of the launch, the company is already offering an exclusive 15% pre-launch discount to newsletter subscribers, making it an appealing deal for early adopters.

Familiar Octagonal Design Returns

The Huawei Watch GT 6 continues the bold octagonal case design introduced with the GT 5, moving further away from the rounded style of the older GT 3 series.

  1. A rotatable crown and side button return for easier navigation.

  2. Two sizes are expected: 41 mm and 46 mm, catering to users who prefer either a compact or more traditional-looking watch.

  3. While Huawei hasn’t revealed display details yet, we can likely expect an AMOLED screen, with premium variants possibly offering sapphire glass and stainless steel frames, similar to the GT 5.

Improved GPS & Smarter Software

One of the biggest upgrades is Huawei’s new Sunflower Positioning System, designed to deliver more accurate GPS tracking for outdoor workouts like running, cycling, or hiking. This should address occasional accuracy issues seen with the GT 5 in dense cities or wooded trails.

The GT 6 will also run on HarmonyOS 5.1, bringing:

  1. Refreshed UI design

  2. Potentially new widgets

  3. Enhanced health and fitness modules

However, Huawei’s app ecosystem remains limited compared to rivals. Unless HarmonyOS 5.1 expands third-party app support, users may still miss popular fitness integrations.

Pre-Launch Discount Deal

Huawei is encouraging early sign-ups with a 15% discount voucher for newsletter subscribers.

  1. The code will be delivered on September 19, valid from launch day.

  2. The offer is available through Huawei’s official channels and may be limited to select regions.

  3. Given Huawei’s recent expansion, the GT 6 is expected to roll out in China first, followed by Europe and Asia shortly after.

What Still Needs Work

While the Watch GT series has always impressed with design, hardware quality, and battery life, there are areas Huawei needs to improve:

  1. Contactless payments remain absent compared to the Apple Watch or Garmin.

  2. Health insights lack the depth of specialized brands like Garmin, Whoop, or Fitbit.

  3. To compete as a serious fitness wearable, Huawei needs to go beyond basic metrics like heart rate and calories by offering smarter recovery tracking and deeper long-term analysis.

Huawei Watch GT 6

The Huawei Watch GT 6 looks set to refine what the GT series does best: stylish design, strong durability, long battery life, and improved GPS accuracy. With the addition of HarmonyOS 5.1 and a smart pre-launch discount, it’s shaping up as one of Huawei’s strongest wearables yet.

Still, whether it can compete with Garmin, Apple, or Samsung on fitness depth and app support remains the big question.
